Considered by many to be the definitive Pokemon games, Gold and Silver get a remake for the DS, but is it still the definitive Pokemon adventure?

The Pokemon series is one of Nintendo’s biggest properties, even after so many years. So, with the new generation of Pokemon games getting a graphical polish unlike anything seen before, and with the success of FireRed and LeafGreen re-releases still in their minds, Nintendo are re-releasing Gold and Silver for DS.

This isn’t just a simple port of the classic GBC games though, as both versions include completely new interfaces. Nintendo have brought in the graphical style of the recent DS series, and even given that a tweak, making it more akin to Platinum than Diamond or Pearl.

Pokemon is back!

SoulSilver and HeartGold will also include a feature only used sparsely in Diamond and Pearl—the ability to have a Pokémon travel alongside you throughout the journey. In these games, you can have any Pokémon that you have caught travel alongside you, anywhere. It’s a nice little feature which works in the same way as it did with Pikachu in Pokémon Yellow.

   Anticipation

Nintendo have managed to make an old game fresh again. Sure it’s the same old story, but wish brilliant new feature, the PokéWalker and integration with the newer games, this is a game for anyone who is even  remotely interested in the series
