Get your Pokemon skills at the ready! They're coming back for more

It seems like we’ve been previewing this game forever, but we’re finally into launch month, and Pokemon fans across Europe are preparing to catch ‘em all once again. By now, you should all know a lot about it, so we’re just going to cover the basics once again and the key features of the new game.

Old favourites make a return!

Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver are remakes of the classic Game Boy Color titles, Gold and Silver. As the DS versions are quite literally remakes, the basic premise and area remains the same – you have to explore the Johto region, catching and training Pokemon to allow you to beat the 8 Gym Leaders, and finally, the Elite Four. The game features a grand total of 493 Pokemon across the two games, with only 14 or so Pokemon different between the games. These can be traded over Wi-Fi or local connection with a friend so you can complete your Pokedex.

So, that’s the basic premise of Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver, so now, what’s new? Well over the last month we’ve had a bit more information come through on various features. As promised, the game will allow you to explore the Kanto region from the original games once you complete the main quest, allowing you to take on more Gym Leaders and an even stronger Elite Four, along with Red, aka Ash; your character from the original game.

This just looks better and better. The Pokewalker actually seems a useful addition, and the main game looks set to be upwards of 100 hours or more to complete. This is a truly great Pokemon game 10 / 10
